When, where and how
Mon Oct 12th: RUN SISTER RUN by Chloë Moss
Mon Nov 9th: THE MEAT KINGS! (INC.) OF BROOKLYN HEIGHTS by Hannah Doran
Each reading is one days work, rehearsals from 9 am, reading before audience at 7 pm the same evening. At Playhouse Teater, Drottninggatan 71A, Stockholm.
A daily rate is paid. We’re not able to cover travel or accommodation costs for readings.
Our readings are performed in English. Preferably you have experience from working/living in an English speaking environment and/or from performing in English. Speaking Swedish is not required.
We’re aiming for making decisions around a least a couple of the characters before summer – some processes may be paused and picked up again after the summer vacations.
HOW TO APPLY
If you match one or more of the characters and you’re available that date, please apply via email: ansokan@playhouseteater.se – you can write in Swedish or English, whichever you prefer.
Please put RUN or KINGS (or both) in the subject field depending on which reading you’re applying for – or put both, if that’s the case.
Directly in your email, please include:
- Which character or characters are you applying for?
- A few sentences describing your acting background; education and experience
- What (if any) experience you have from working in English (or living in an English speaking country)
- Age
- A recent portrait photo
- Phone number
- Audio or video of you performing something in English*
- Could be link to a showreel or similar
- Or make a voice recording and attach (1 min max, a text of your choice)
*Preferably in the accent(s) corresponding with the character(s) you’re applying for.
If attaching/linking material from your Google drive, please make sure the file setting is ”anyone with link can view”.
Please make sure to include all of the things listed above in your email. Audio or video sample in English is required to be considered in the casting. Nothing fancy needed, if you don’t have any material from before – just make a simple voice recording with your phone.
If you wish, you can also attach your acting resume.
We’re kindly asking you to send us your application by June 7th at the latest.
Characters open for application
We only specify ethnicity/appearance etc when it’s motivated based on the script content and/or specified by the playwright. Where nothing is specified, we encourage actors of all backgrounds and appearences to apply.
Characters in RUN SISTER RUN oct 12th:
CONNIE – female, age 40-55
URSULA – female, age 40-55
ADRIAN – male, age 40-55
JACK – male, age 20-30
British accent preferred for all characters in Run sister run.
Characters in THE MEAT KINGS! nov 9th:
JD – male, age 20-30, hispanic origin/appearance
T – female, age 20-30
BILLY – male, age 30-40, mixed origin/appearance – partly either of these: hispanic or from North Africa or West Asia
PAULA – female, age 40-60
General american accent required for all Meat Kings characters.
Not required but bonus/preferably:
- New York accent for JD, T and BILLY.
- New York Italian-American accent for Paula.
